SEL-2100 Logic Processor

SEL-2100 Logic Processor with Advanced Application Logic

Advanced Application Logic

The SEL-2100 Logic Processor now includes the capability to accept special logic modules, called Advanced Logic. For special applications, our engineering services groups can deliver custom high-speed logic applications as Advanced Logic in SEL-2100 Logic Processors. The first standard Advanced Logic available from SEL is the Crosspoint Switch (CPS) Advanced Logic.

SEL provides Advanced Logic for the SEL-2100 Logic Processor to perform high-speed control for specific applications or classes of applications. The CPS Advanced Logic uses 32 of the SEL-2100 Logic Variables (LV1-LV31) as the inputs. Based on the inputs and the intersection points set in the array, the logic sets the state of 128 outputs. These outputs are the Transmit MIRRORED BIT points for ports 1-16 and 8 Logic Points (LP9-LP16).

SEL Systems and Services Division engineers used the CPS Advanced Logic to implement an optimal, adaptive load-shedding system for a large refinery. Software in a rugged SEL computer uses SEL Fast Messages to rapidly change the intersection points in the matrix, to change the load dropping priorities to match different conditions.

The CPS table is an array of bits (32 rows by 128 columns). Rows correspond to logic variables in the SEL-2100 (Row 1 to LV1, Row 2 to LV2, etc.), and are the inputs to the CPS logic. Columns correspond to SEL-2100 Transmit MIRRORED BITS outputs.

Connect the inputs to the outputs by enabling switch cells using SEL Fast Message commands.

Receive MIRRORED BITS elements and other logic combine in each logic variable, and then route to the transmit MIRRORED BITS elements on each port, based upon the enabled switch cells in the CPS table (the light blue cells of the crosspoint switch table). For example, when LV1 asserts, the logic processor asserts Port 1 TMB1 (T1P1) and also Port 15 TMB3 (T3P15). When LV31 asserts, the SEL-2100 asserts Port 15 TMB8 (T8P15).
