CRD-Current Reset Fault Indicators are used for fault location on overhead power distribution systems. CRDs are powered by the load current present around the conductor. They indicate a faulted-line condition by showing a large, red reflective target (8-square-centimeters). CRDs automatically reset to a normal line condition by showing a white, reflective target upon restoration of load current that meets the CRDs minimum load requirement.
CRDs can be installed with a single hot stick, have a 1 ms response time, and significantly reduce fault-finding time. The UV-stabilized, polycarbonate housing, vinyl-coated core, and stainless-steel spring make CRDs suitable for application in harsh, outdoor conditions.
- Load current-powered—no battery necessary.
- No minimum-voltage requirement.
- Automatically resets upon restoration of load current.
- Inrush restraint feature prevents false tripping during recloser operations.
- Maintains trip tolerance throughout the clamping range.
- Easy to install with a single hot stick.
- UV-stabilized materials provide excellent weatherability.
