SEL-3094 Interface Converter
Convert electrical teleprotection interfaces to the IEEE C37.94 optical standard for improved safety, signal integrity, and longer distances. Connect an SEL-3094 to an ITU-T G.703, EIA-422, EIA-485, or EIA-232 device, and use up to 2 km of optical fiber to link to a C37.94 multiplexer. Similarly, connect an SEL-3094 to a noncompliant multiplexer, and use fiber to connect to a new teleprotection device and another SEL-3094 at the multiplexer to replace a G.703, EIA-422, EIA-485, or EIA-232 wire link with optical fiber.
IEEE C37.94 Standard Conversion
Converts electrical teleprotection interfaces to the IEEE C37.94 optical standard. Connect an SEL-3094 to an ITU-T G.703, EIA-422, EIA-485, or EIA-232 device, and use up to 2 km of optical fiber to link to a C37.94 multiplexer. Similarly, replace a G.703, EIA-422, EIA-485, or EIA-232 wire link with fiber, connecting a noncompliant multiplexer to a teleprotection device through a pair of SEL-3094 interface converters.
Easy Application
All settings are made with ten control switches. LEDs indicate the state of inputs, outputs, and the communications link.
High Speed
Uses one 64-kilobit time slot in a digital multiplexer.
Improved Safety and Isolation
Fiber-optic connections provide isolation from dangerous ground potential rise, prevent induced electrical noise, and eliminate signal ground loops.
Universal Power
Power supply operates from 18 to 300 Vdc and 85 to 264 Vac.
Convert ITU-T G.703, EIA-422, EIA-485, or EIA-232 electrical links to IEEE C37.94 fiber-optic standard.
Apply the SEL-3094 at the electrical connection of:
- Noncompliant multiplexers
- Noncompliant relays
- Both noncompliant relays and multiplexers
Use a pair of SEL-3094s to connect two EIA-422 relays back-to-back for testing without a multiplexer.
