SEL-5601 Version 2.3.7 Announcement

SEL-5601 Version 2.3.4 Announcement

SEL is pleased to announce a new version of the SEL-5601, version 2.3.4. This version released July 18, 2005 and includes the following:

• Improved installation and uninstallation process for more standard behavior with new releases of Microsoft Windows®
• Enhanced robustness to handle unusual items in event report files, including two-digit milliseconds and non-standard event trigger indications.

SEL-5601 Version 2.2 Announcement

SEL is pleased to announce a new version of the SEL-5601, version 2.2. The new release includes support for alpha plane plots for SEL-387L Line Current Differential Relays, in addtion to SEL-311L Line Current Differential Relays.

SEL-5601 Version 2.1 Announcement

SEL is pleased to announce a new version of the SEL-5601, version 2.1. The new release includes the following features:

• New warnings save time. The program provides a warning if you attempt to open an event file with a format that is not fully supported by the SEL-5601. You are still allowed to open unsupported files, but the warning reminds you to carefully check the data. Also, if you attempt to open a file that is in a read-only folder, a warning is issued. Copy events to a folder with read and write rights.
• Lower Frequencies Allowed. The options form allows a low frequency limit of 20 Hz, to support the SEL-300G low frequency tracking.
• Different Date Formats Supported. For relays that recognize the DATE_F setting, the SEL-5601 will use the DATE_F format for non-compressed events, including events that are not fully supported. The date is always correct for compressed events.
• Select Printer for Phasor Plots. Printer selection is supported for printing phasor plots.

SEL-5601 Version 2.0 Announcement

SEL is pleased to announce Version 2.0 of the SEL-5601 Analytic Assistant. This new software allows you to combine information from more than one event report on the same graphical display. The multiple event reports must be precisely time-synchronized and use the same time-basis to use this feature. Applications include the following:

• To protect a bus with more than six terminals, use three SEL-487B Bus Differential Relays, connected to operate as a bus differential protection system. The relay clocks are precisely synchronized. Use the SEL-5601 to combine and view data for a single event, from the event reports of the connected SEL-487B Relays.
• You can precisely synchronize the time-clocks for SEL-421 Relays. When event data are captured by time-synchronized SEL-421 Relays for the same event, use the SEL-5601 to combine and view the information in one graph.
• Many SEL relays have CEV command-line options to include different sets of data for the same event. These are views of the same event data in different ways, so they are exactly time-synchronized. In this case, use the SEL-5601 to combine and view data from different reports for the same event.

This version of the software also includes support for files in Binary Comtrade format. For the three-unit SEL-487B Relay applications, the new SEL-5601 is bundled with the interconnection kit for the third unit of each set. For all other applications, contact your CSR to order SEL-5601 Software, or to order an upgrade for existing licensed SEL-5601 Software.

SEL-5601 Version 1.5 Announcement

SEL is pleased to announce the following enhancements to the SEL-5601 Analytic Assistant:

• Select to display harmonic values in absolute engineering units, or as a percentage of the fundamental value
• Improved auto-ranging for analog displays
• When you start the program, the Main Form is displayed in the same position on the screen as the previous time the program was running
