Plug-In Recloser Control Compatibility
Plug-compatible replacement for most Kyle®/Cooper FXA, FXB, Form 3, 3A, 4, 4A, 4C, 5 and 6 recloser controls. Programmable four-shot auto-reclosing function with synchronism and voltage check logic to match a variety of reclosing practices and sequence coordination logic to coordinate with downstream reclosers.
Six Voltage Inputs
The SEL-651R has six voltage inputs for status of both sides of the switch. This allows for better switching decisions and more complex Automatic Network Reconfiguration.
acSELerator® QuickSet™ SEL-5030 Software
Develop settings offline and download to the recloser. The software automatically checks interrelated settings and highlights out-of-range settings. Use the acSELerator SEL-5031 QuickSet Designer™ Software to create personalized QuickSet Design Templates that reduce field commissioning and standardize selected settings.
Relay and Recloser Compatible Time-Overcurrent Protection
U.S. (IEEE) and IEC relay curves and all traditional recloser curves for maximum recloser control flexibility and coordination. Constant time adder, vertical multiplier, and minimum response time functions for additional flexibility.
Single-Phase Trip and Reclose
The SEL-651R can control, trip, and reclose on single phases or trip three-phase based on a single-phase fault. Single-phase tripping keeps customers online that are not on the affected phase.
Advanced 12 Vdc Battery Charging and Monitoring System
120 Vac or 240 Vac powered battery charging system monitors and tests the 12 Vdc battery. Automatic sleep and local wakeup function. 12 Vdc available for powering accessories, modems and radio communications equipment (40 W continuous).
Mirrored Bits® Communications Technology
Provides fast and reliable relay-to-relay communication for advanced communications-assisted protection, network reconfiguration, and restoration schemes. Learn More >
Large Display and Operator Controls
Large front-panel display and programmable operator control interface pushbuttons for easy recloser control. Control interface pushbuttons include "Lock" function to prevent inadvertent operation. Pushbuttons are preprogrammed and labeled with popular recloser control switch functions, but can be reprogrammed and relabeled to meet your unique application requirements.
Extra Cabinet Space
Additional space inside recloser control enclosure is available to add communications equipment, such as a cellular modem and point-to-point radio, to integrate recloser control into your distribution automation system. Cabinet also features front and rear doors for easy access.
Per-Phase Operations Counter
Now you can monitor breaker or recloser contact wear for each individual phase for efficient maintenance planning and troubleshooting.
Harmonic Control and Metering
Monitor and control power quality with harmonic metering up to the 15th harmonic and control on Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Configurable Power Elements
Used for directional power and VAR flow.
Phase and Ground Directional Elements
Securely trip forward or reverse faults for overcurrent protection. SEL’s Best Choice Ground Directional Element™ logic selects the best ground directional element for system conditions and eliminates settings.
Full-Function Clock Elements
Vary logic according to time of year/week/day to accommodate variations in load type depending on season or load needs.
Load Encroachment Logic
Prevents operation of phase overcurrent elements under high load conditions.
Fault Locating
Provides an accurate estimate of fault location even during periods of substantial load flow.
Voltage Sag/Swell/Interrupt (VSSI) Report
The VSSI report captures power quality data related to voltage disturbances over a long period of time.
Convenience 120 Vac GFCI outlet
Standard convenience outlet provided for laptop or other 120 Vac device.
High Reliability and Rugged Design
The SEL-651R withstands vibration, electrical surges, fast transients, and extreme temperatures, meeting stringent industry standards. The printed circuit boards are conformal coated to provide an additional barrier to airborne contaminants such as hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, salt, and moisture.
