SELU LogoSEL University instructors are industry experts with a wealth of technical knowledge and practical experience. Courses are organized into programs with multiple tracks for both power system fundamentals and product application courses. These tracks are designed to meet the needs of engineers, technicians, power system specialists, and managers concerned with protection, monitoring, control, automation, metering, and management of industrial and commercial electric power systems. SELU provides continuing education units (CEUs) for all courses, which can be used to maintain an individual's professional license.

APP 3530 - SEL-3530 Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC)

The APP 3530 course is designed to be highly interactive and activity based. During APP 3530, in groups of two, you will configure a realistic communications scheme using the SEL-3530 Real-Time Automation Controller. Each unit of this course will guide you, step-by-step, through configuring this communications scheme.

SYS 303 - Integrating Substation Systems Using SEL-2032

Students will learn to use the SEL-2032 Communications Processor to design, create, and implement a state-of-the-art substation integration and automation system. Detailed hands-on examples will show the ease with which you can apply the communications processor to both SEL relays and non-SEL IEDs. Students will explore use of the communications processor with DNP3 Level 2, Modbus, and the SEL-2701 Ethernet Processor. Multitier applications of the communications processor are also addressed.

CBT - 2411 Introduction to the SEL-2411 Programmable Automation Controller

This self-paced training provides an introduction to the SEL-2411 Programmable Automation Controller and a general overview of the SEL-2411 feature set. CBT 2411 features a highly interactive SEL-2411 learning simulator designed to simulate the operational functionality of the SEL-2411. CBT 2411 also includes SELogic® control equation examples and a general application walk-through.

COM 203 - SEL Cybersecurity Best Practices for Critical Infrastructure

If modern substation design is implemented poorly and lacks adequate cybersecurity, it can be vulnerable to cyberattack and exploitation. A lack of cybersecurity will eventually lead to decreased power system reliability. Cybersecurity is a key component of enhanced power system reliability and operation.

APP 3620 - Sensible Cybersecurity Using the Ethernet Security Gateway

To effectively mitigate evolving cyberthreats, the cybersecurity posture of the modern substation must be aligned with modern defense-in-depth strategies. APP 3620 is designed to bridge the gap between foundational cybersecurity competencies and practical application.
