SEL-287V

Voltage Differential and Control Relay

Protect and control your grounded-wye capacitor banks.
  • Voltage Inputs From Two Seperate Sources
Accepts voltage inputs from two separate, three-phase, four-wire sources of potential.
  • Magnitude-Voltage-Differential Protection Immune to System Unbalance
Three differential elements per phase, separate thresholds for each element, adjustable pick-up/dropout timers, separate ratio adjustment contraints for each element and phase, and loss of potential supervision with adjustable timers.
  • Dual Voltage Control Schemes
Control one or two capacitor banks or reactors.
  • Under- and Overvoltage Elements for Each Source
Includes three single-phase undervoltage and three single-phase overvoltage elements, one definite-time overvoltage element responding to maximum phase, three-phase under- and three-phase overvoltage elements intended for voltage control. Also includes voltage control instability detection logic, logic inputs to supervise voltage control scheme, four voltage control timers, and loss of potential logic with timer.
  • Eleven-Cycle Event Reporting
Quick validation of settings and reporting of reclosures.
  • Indoor or Outdoor Mounting
    -40° to +70°C operating temperature.
  • Mounting Options
Horizontal panel-mount or rack-mount harware package.
  • Protect and control grounded-wye shunt capacitor banks. Sensitive differential protection detects individual blown fuses, even in large banks. Protection is independent of system operation conditions, e.g., unbalanced and external faults.
  • Accommodate switched capacitor banks and reactors with control voltage settings. Include a two-step control scheme for adaptive switching.
  • Detect undervoltage and prevent system collapse due to voltage instability with three-phase undervoltage load-shedding schemes. Use a latching bit to provide a remote SCADA or local alarm when scheme operates, and/or to restore load automatically when conditions return to normal.
  • Use with SEL-5010 Relay Assistant Software to manage your relay settings.
  • Use SEL-5040 Power System Report Manager Software to automatically gather relay event reports on your PC and manage them with a database.
  • Use SEL-5601 Analytic Assistant Software to display oscillograms and vector diagrams to analyze event reports.
