SEL-701-1

Monitor

The SEL-701-1 Monitor Provides Thermal Protection
for Power System Apparatus

SEL-701-1 Monitor

  • Enhanced Monitoring
Seven user-programmable LED targets for enhanced monitoring flexibility.
  • Full Motor Protection Functionality
Full motor protection functionality to maximize product value and utilization.
  • Thermal Model Control
User control of the thermal element to simplify monitoring functions when thermal element is not in use.
  • Programmable RTDs
Individually programmable RTDs, each with one trip and three alarm levels, for enhanced thermal monitoring and control of critical substation apparatus.
  • Event Reports and Trends
Comprehensive event reports stored in nonvolatile memory: motor starts, motor start trend, load profile, Sequential Events Recorder (SER), and full event reports.
  • Simple Communication
ASCII and Modbus® communication interface using off-the-shelf communications packages (terminal emulators).

  • Voltage inputs for complete metering and power information.
  • Internal RTDs (11 RTD inputs for internal RTD card).
  • External RTDs (12 RTD inputs and one contact input on SEL-2600A RTD Module mounted near motor or other power system apparatus).

  • Monitor thermal characteristics of transformers and alarm for adverse internal or ambient conditions.
  • Program and label front-panel LEDs to reflect monitored conditions such as thermal alarms, cooling fan status, contact input states, or calculated SELOGIC® control equations results of other measured conditions.
  • Monitor intake and exhaust air temperatures in a critical motor while alarming for rising ambient temperatures in the switch yard.
  • Protect most medium voltage induction and synchronous motors regardless of horsepower rating.
  • Apply the integrated thermal protection model to retain motor thermal characteristics through transitional operating states (start, run, stop, restart).
  • Use comprehensive reporting to confirm motor sizing, understand events, schedule maintenance, detect unfavorable trends, modify loads, and satisfy information requirements of supervisory systems.
  • After selecting each RTD type and location, include RTD inputs as a part of the integrated thermal model to bias protection.
  • Select the external RTD module (SEL-2600A) to eliminate expensive wire pulls and reduce wiring terminations at the relay by as much as 40% while acquiring clean RTD signals and an additional contact input.
  • Apply the SEL-701 Relay in unfavorable environmental conditions. Tested from -40° to +85°C and up to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing).
  • Select from among 45 standard motor protection curves, use nameplate data, or create specialized curves according to unique motor operating requirements.
  • Use SEL-5010 Relay Assistant Software to manage your relay settings.
