- Add Serial Ports to Personal Computers
Use serial data rates up to 115,200 bps. Many devices communicate with EIA-232 serial ports, but many new computers do not have sufficient built-in serial ports. Apply SEL adapter cables to use a USB port to communicate with serial devices.
- Easily Apply
Connect directly to a PC USB 2.0 port. A software driver is included with each cable. The serial interface includes hardware flow-control signals. The SEL-C662 has a male 9-pin connector. The SEL-C663 has an adapter to provide a female 9-pin connector. A slide switch selects DCE or DTE pin usage.
- Provide Power for Serial Accessories
Provide power for accessories, including the SEL-2890 Ethernet Transceiver or SEL-2886 EIA-232 to EIA-485 Interface Converter. Use a slide switch on the EIA-232 end of the cable to provide power to pin 1 of the 9-pin connector.
- Reduce Costs
An SEL-C662 or -C663 cable provides the functions of both a USB-to-serial converter and a cable (SEL-C234A or equivalent) for less than the combined price of other USB converters and cables.

- Connect an SEL-C662 cable to a portable PC port and a protective relay, communications processor, Relay Test System, I/O processor or controller, meter, or other device for commissioning, settings management, event report retrieval, or diagnostic analysis.
- Configure the parameters for an SEL-2890 using an SEL-C663 cable to your laptop computer.
- Communicate with an EIA-485 network by connecting an SEL-2886 to your laptop PC using an SEL-C663 cable.
