SYS 309
Overview
This course is designed to provide an opportunity for students to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of synchrophasor measurement and application.
Course topics include:
- Purpose and function of synchrophasor measurements
- Time-synchronization tools
- Phasor and frequency measurements
- Dynamic performance
- Visualization tools
What You Will Learn
Use SEL Synchrophasor measurement to economically solve real-world problems in operations, planning, and protection.
Course participants will:
- Apply synchrophasor and precise-time measurement theories and discover their importance to the electric power system.
- Apply synchrophasor technologies to assist with event analysis, troubleshooting, system performance, and system-level checks.
- Apply synchrophasor technology to measure voltage and angle stability.
- Explore the C37.118 standard, communications requirements, and compliance methods.
- Measure dynamic system performance during steady-state and fault conditions in an open- and closed-looped system using a Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS®).
- Configure synchrophasor components, including phasor measurement units, clocks, communications equipment, data processing devices, and display tools.
- Retrieve and analyze device data for monitoring purposes, including early warning data, diagnostics, and data logs.
